Our History

At our firm, we know ‘small business’ means family — whether it’s the small business itself or the families it supports.

Beginning in the 70’s, Aurelio Alvarez started a local history of tax services preparing individual taxes within the Santa Ana community. Antonio and Maria Alvarez continued Aurelio’s work and founded ATS Consulting in 2001 to serve the small business tax needs of greater Orange County. While our team grew and our services expanded, our community values remain the foundation of our company. With the leadership of a third generation, ATS Consulting continues to be forward-thinking, adapting to change and focused on growth that benefits our staff and our clients.

Antonio Alvarez Jr.

Antonio Alvarez Jr.

Tax Director

Antonio Alvarez Jr. earned his BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from CSU Fullerton in 2014. He is an Enrolled Agent and NTPI Fellow with 12 years of tax preparation and resolution experience with individual and business clients. Antonio served as Director of the OC Chapter of the CSEA and is a member of the NAEA, NATP, and the ASTPS. He enjoys traveling with his wife and spending time with his rabbit.

Estefanía Alvarez

Estefanía Alvarez

Operations Director

Estefanía earned her BA in English and Spanish with a minor in Human Rights from UC Davis in 2014. Before joining ATS, she worked in the nonprofit sector providing legal assistance to asylum seekers while organizing music and poetry events as a coordinator for various art organizations in Texas and Northern California. With her background and experience, Estefanía oversees business operations, directs and coordinates actions across departments, and manages general company maintenance. She enjoys reading and plans to visit all fifty states.

Maria Alvarez

Co-Founding Partner

Maria Alvarez is an enterprising and visionary entrepreneur and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Universidad Autónoma de Juárez in Forest Engineering. With her experience in administration and planning, Maria created ATS Consulting’s Bookkeeping Department and has been a fundamental part in the growth and development of the company. Her focus is to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses and make the best professional and financial decisions to reach their goals. Maria enjoys spending time with her family, managing her real estate business, and developing her interior design venture.

With over 30 years of experience, Antonio Alvarez specializes in tax preparation for individual and business clients. He earned his EA designation in 2006 and his NTPI Fellow designation in 2013. Antonio was a member of the NAEA, ASTPS, NATP, and the CSEA. He is also part of a cadre of presenters for the IRS, educating small business owners through joint presentations with EDD and the SCORE organization. Antonio enjoys boxing matches and plans to visit every baseball stadium in North and Central America.

Juan Carlos Araujo

Juan Carlos Araujo

Bookkeeping Director

Juan Carlos has over 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, and he is fluent in QuickBooks as a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor and Desktop Certified User. He earned his Bachelor‘s degree in Law, Associate in Accounting from Irvine Valley College, and his Business Analysis Certification from UC Irvine. Juan Carlos is passionate about helping entrepreneurs understand the importance of bookkeeping, finance, and planning. He enjoys traveling, trying new food and drinks, and enjoying his favorite holidays Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Michelle Cuevas

Account Manager

Michelle is an Enrolled Agent with six years of experience in accounting and tax preparation for small and medium businesses. She is currently studying Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She enjoys music festivals and playing with her two rescue pitbulls Cindy and Clyde.

Marissa Dubon

Marissa Dubon

Account Manager

Marissa is an Enrolled Agent and NTPI fellow with over a decade of experience in the tax field. She is certified in both QuickBooks Desktop and Online platforms. With her extensive background in accounting, Marissa is an integral asset to the ATS family. Marissa enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and working with clients to reach their financial goals.

Lis Hernandez

Lis Hernandez

Payroll Specialist

Lis joined the ATS team in 2021 as a Payroll Specialist. She earned her AA in Accounting and Business Administration from Santa Ana College, as well as her Certificate of Achievement in QuickBooks and her Fundamental Payroll Certification. Lis enjoys conquering new challenges and helping clients understand and maximize affordable payroll benefits.

Zaira Miranda

Account Bookkeeper

Zaira joined the team in 2021. She earned her AA in Business at Santa Ana College and completed her BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from CSU Fullerton. She looks forward to helping clients understand and apply proper accounting practices to help businesses succeed. During her leisure time, she enjoys dancing, discovering new restaurants and spending time with her friends and family.

Administrative Assistant

Zulimar joined ATS Consulting in 2018 and assists Account Managers in resolving federal, state and local agency affairs for each business client. She enjoys learning about tax updates and welcoming clients to make sure their needs are met at all times. Outside of work, Zulimar enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

Stephany Ramirez

Stephany Ramirez

Administrative Assistant

Stephany joined ATS Consulting in 2021. She is the first point of contact for businesses seeking accounting services and prides herself in providing a pleasant experience to each valued client. Stephany is currently working on her Associate’s degree with plans for a BA in Accounting and an Enrolled Agent Certification. For fun, she enjoys going to the park with her dog and discovering new beaches.
